Narak Chaturdashi Muhurat - 05:20 to 06:32
The five-day Diwali celebration begins with Dhantrayodashi and concludes with Bhaiya Dooj. Abhyang Snan is recommended on three key days during Diwali: Chaturdashi, Amavasya, and Pratipada.
Among these, the Abhyang Snan on Chaturdashi, also known as Narak Chaturdashi, holds the greatest significance. It is believed that those who perform the Abhyang Snan on this day can avoid going to Narak (hell). For this ritual, sesame (Til) oil is used for Ubtan during the bath.
On the English calendar, Narak Chaturdashi may occur either the day before or on the same day as Lakshmi Puja. If Chaturdashi Tithi prevails before sunrise and Amavasya Tithi follows after sunset, both Narak Chaturdashi and Lakshmi Puja fall on the same day. The Abhyang Snan is always performed during moonrise but before sunrise while Chaturdashi Tithi is in effect.
Our Abhyang Snan Muhurat is calculated between moonrise and sunrise, based on the prevailing Chaturdashi Tithi. We follow the guidelines prescribed in Hindu religious texts and take into account all exceptions to provide the most accurate date and time for Abhyang Snan.
Narak Chaturdashi is also referred to as Choti Diwali, Roop Chaturdashi, and Roop Chaudas.
Though Narak Chaturdashi and Kali Chaudas are often considered the same, they are two distinct festivals observed on the same Tithi. Depending on the timing of the start and end of Chaturdashi Tithi, they might fall on two consecutive days.
