Maa Siddhidatri – The 9th Day of Navratri

Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga, is worshipped on the 9th day of Navratri (Navami). The word Siddhi means spiritual power, and Datri means the giver. Thus, Maa Siddhidatri is known as the bestower of siddhis (divine powers). She symbolizes perfection, wisdom, and completeness, guiding devotees towards spiritual awakening and liberation.

Maa Siddhidatri is depicted sitting on a lotus, riding a lion, and holding a chakra, shankh, gada, and lotus in her four hands. She is surrounded by siddhas, saints, devas, and asuras who worship her to attain siddhis. She removes ignorance and grants knowledge, devotion, and fulfillment of desires.

Origin of Siddhidatri Mata

According to scriptures, at the beginning of creation, Lord Shiva worshipped Adi-Parashakti, and she appeared as Maa Siddhidatri. She blessed Shiva with all the siddhis and merged into him, making him Ardhanarishwar (half Shiva, half Shakti).

माँ सिद्धिदात्री नवदुर्गा का नौवां स्वरूप हैं। वे सभी सिद्धियों की दात्री मानी जाती हैं और भक्तों को अणिमा, महिमा, गरिमा, लघिमा आदि आठ सिद्धियाँ प्रदान करती हैं। देवी भागवत के अनुसार, इन्हीं की कृपा से भगवान शिव ने अर्धनारीश्वर रूप धारण किया। माँ सिद्धिदात्री कमल पर विराजमान रहती हैं, इनके चार हाथ हैं जिनमें गदा, चक्र, शंख और कमल सुशोभित हैं। श्रद्धा से इनकी उपासना करने पर भक्त को सफलता, सुख-समृद्धि और सिद्धि का आशीर्वाद मिलता है।
