The Badrinath Temple is a Hindu temple in the town of Badrinath, Uttarakhand. It is dedicated to Vishnu and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Northern India.

Legend says Adi Shankaracharya established the temple in the 8th century . The temple is believed to have been built around a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan found in the Alaknanda River
