Dhanteras Puja Muhurat - Time 18:31 to 20:13
Dhantrayodashi, commonly known as Dhanteras, marks the first day of the five-day Diwali celebrations. On this auspicious day, Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the ocean during the churning of the Milky Sea. As a result, both Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera, the God of wealth, are worshipped on Trayodashi. However, Lakshmi Puja on Amavasya, two days after Dhantrayodashi, is considered more significant.
For Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi, Lakshmi Puja should ideally be performed during Pradosh Kaal, which begins after sunset and lasts approximately 2 hours and 24 minutes. It is not recommended to use Choghadiya Muhurat for Dhanteras Puja, as those times are more suitable for travel. The most auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja is during Pradosh Kaal when Sthir Lagna prevails. ‘Sthir’ means fixed, and when the Puja is done during this time, it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi will remain in the home. Vrishabha Lagna, considered a Sthir Lagna, usually coincides with Pradosh Kaal during Diwali.
We provide the exact timing for Dhanteras Puja, ensuring it includes both Pradosh Kaal and Sthir Lagna while Trayodashi is active. The Muhurat is location-based, so it is important to select your city to get the correct Shubh Dhanteras Puja timings.
Dhanteras Puja is also known as Dhantrayodashi. Additionally, this day is celebrated as Dhanwantari Triodasi or Dhanvantri Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of the God of Ayurveda. Another important ritual on Trayodashi is Yamadeep, in which a lamp is lit outside the home to honor the God of Death and prevent any untimely deaths in the family.
