Santoshi Mata ki Katha (Shukravar Vrat)

Santoshi Mata Ki Katha (Shukravar Vrat)

Once upon a time, a poor woman had seven sons. Six of them were working and supporting the family, while the youngest was idle and irresponsible. The mother loved her youngest son the most and always served him the best food. The other six sons and their wives felt neglected and grew resentful.

One day, the youngest son decided to go to another city to earn a living. After some time, he found work and began to earn well. He sent money home regularly, but his greedy brothers and their wives kept the money for themselves and lied to the mother, saying her youngest son had sent nothing.

Believing them, the mother cursed her youngest son in anger. Meanwhile, in the faraway city, the son lost his job, his wealth, and was forced to beg for food. One day, he met a kind old woman who told him about Santoshi Mata’s vrat and said, “If your wife performs this vrat, your troubles will end.”

His wife was a humble and devoted woman. She immediately began the Friday fast, offering jaggery and chickpeas and avoiding anything sour. She followed the ritual strictly, praying with a pure heart for her husband’s well-being.

Soon, miracles began to happen. The husband regained his job and wealth. He returned home, and the truth about the brothers and their wives came out. The mother apologized, and peace returned to the family.

The daughter-in-law continued her vrat with faith. Santoshi Mata, pleased with her devotion, appeared and granted her all her wishes.
